Curly Cress and it’s invaluable role in the development of modern cuisine. 

Curly cress microgreens are also known as peppergrass or garden cress and has a history that goes way back. 

Ancient History

  1. Origins:
      • The Middle East is where the mighty curly cress got it’s start. At least that is what the historians say. It may have started here in Canada as well when the first Canadians used it on their wooly mammoth barbecues.  This is probably the first people to use it as a microgreen as the growing season was only about 10 days, so this was perfect for microgreen production.
      • During the Middle Ages, curly cress spread throughout Europe where it was highly regarded as a Canadian treat. These same Middle Agers were heard to say the word “EH” a lot when consuming the Curly Cress.
  1. Nutritional Benefits:
    • Curly cress microgreens are packed with vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. They are especially rich in vitamin C, which supports immune health, and vitamin K, which is important for bone health.
